BOTOX® Cosmetic now offered at
OBGYN West

As OBGYN’s, we get asked a lot of questions every day…including “what can I do about these frown lines between my eyes?”  This question came up so often, some of our doctors decided to provide patients with prescription BOTOX® Cosmetic injections inside our clinics.

Botox® can soften those frown lines.

For adults 65 and younger, a BOTOX® injection can provide a temporary softening in the lines between your eyes (called the “glabellar lines”).  You can usually notice the difference within 24 to 48 hours and the area may continue to improve for up to a month.  All in all, the visible results can last up to four months.

The procedure is quick, but the results can last for months.

Generally, it’s a quick and painless procedure.  Prior to the injection, we numb the area with a cold pack or anesthetic cream.  The entire procedure takes about ten minutes and you’ll be out the door, back to your regular life, with no recovery time.

And yes, your face will still be as expressive as ever.

Some folks worry that BOTOX® (also known by the tongue twister name, “onabotulinumtoxinA”) will change their facial appearance and make them look like they’ve “had work done”.  It’s been our experience that while BOTOX® reduces the muscle activity that causes frown lines, you’ll still be able to frown or look surprised—just without the wrinkles and creases between your brows.

LEGAL:  POSSIBLE SIDE EFFECTS: It’s important to note that BOTOX® can cause serious side effects.  These include: dry mouth, discomfort or pain at the injection site, tiredness, headache, neck pain, and eye problems such as double vision, blurred vision, decreased eyesight, drooping eyelids, swelling of the eyelids and dry eyes.  Symptoms of allergic reaction to BOTOX® may include: itching, rash, red itchy welts, wheezing, asthma symptoms, dizziness or feeling faint.  Please tell your doctor or get medical help right away if you are wheezing or have asthma symptoms or if you become dizzy or faint.
